About our luxury cabinet installation

Our team provides scribing to stone, plaster and stacked uppers, delivering furniture-grade rooms for high-end homes and carefully staged installs for both residential and commercial projects. Our own lead installer takes the in-home measure, every elevation and grain layout appears on shop drawings you sign before cutting starts, and the finished cabinetry carries a written warranty.

From hidden push-latch doors and lighting wired inside glass uppers to the kitchen, primary closet, bar and library of a whole house, our team handles every detail. Serving Austin, Barton Creek, West Lake Hills and Lakeway, we schedule the install around your builder, your designer and the stone fabricator so each trade finds the room ready.

What Makes a Cabinet Installation Luxury Grade

A luxury installation in Austin is judged on what you notice up close: grain that flows from one door to the next, reveals that stay even across a twelve-foot wall, appliances you cannot find, and stone and floors that look exactly as they did before the crew arrived. The boxes matter, but the finish work and the planning decide the result.

Four things separate this work from a standard kitchen job:

  • Material selection by the flitch, not by the sheet. Veneer is chosen and laid out so the figure reads as one surface across a run.
  • Finishes built for close viewing. Sanding, staining and topcoats are sequenced so the grain looks deep rather than muddy.
  • Integration. Refrigeration, dishwashers, lighting and hardware disappear into the cabinetry rather than sitting beside it.
  • Protection and sequencing. Most of these installs happen in houses that are already finished, or nearly so, alongside other trades.

Rift Sawn, Quarter Sawn and Book-Matched Veneers

Rift and quarter sawn veneers give luxury cabinetry its calm, straight grain, and book matching turns neighbouring doors into mirror images. Which cut suits your room depends on the look you want and the species.

Quarter sawn and rift sawn

Quarter sawing turns the growth rings close to perpendicular to the face, so the grain runs straight and the wood moves less across its width than plain sawn stock. In oak it also exposes the medullary rays as ray fleck, a shimmering figure some clients love and others avoid. Rift cutting runs along the radius of the log for an even straighter, quieter line with no fleck, and it wastes more of the log, which is part of why it costs more.

Book matched, slip matched and sequence matched

Book match: every other leaf of veneer is flipped so adjoining leaves mirror each other like the pages of an open book. Slip match: consecutive leaves are laid side by side without flipping, which repeats the figure and avoids the striped look book matching can give. Sequence match: panels cut in order from the same log are assigned to doors, drawer fronts and end panels so the grain continues across the whole elevation. The grain layout is drawn on your shop drawings, so you see which leaf lands on which door before anything is pressed.

Why wood movement matters here

Austin's humid subtropical climate swings between moist Gulf air and dry westerly winds. Quarter sawn stock and veneer on a stable core hold their shape better through those swings than wide solid panels, which keeps reveals even on tall doors.

Hand-Applied Finishes That Bring Out the Figure

A furniture-grade finish is one that makes the figure look deeper the closer you stand. The process starts long before the first coat.

  • Sanding schedule. Open-grained species such as oak are taken up through finer grits in steps, and harder, tighter woods go finer still, because every scratch left behind shows once color goes on.
  • Dye or pigment. Dyes are transparent and keep figure clear; pigment stains sit in the pores and highlight grain. The right choice depends on the species and how much contrast you want.
  • Hand-rubbed oil. Oil and oil-varnish blends warm the wood and pull the figure forward, with a soft sheen suited to libraries and bars.
  • Shellac and French polish. Many thin coats rubbed on by pad give a deep gloss for a statement piece such as a bar front.
  • Catalyzed topcoats. Conversion varnish cures hard and resists water and household chemicals, which is why it is the usual choice for a working kitchen.

We prepare sample boards in your chosen species and finish so you approve the color under your own light before the full order is finished.

Panel-Ready Appliances, Full-Height Walls and Lighting Built In

Integrated appliances and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry are what make a luxury kitchen read as one piece of furniture. Both need planning before the boxes are built.

Column refrigerators and panel-ready appliances

Panel-ready refrigerator and freezer columns, dishwashers and drawer units are designed to take a cabinet-maker's front so they sit flush with the doors around them. Each manufacturer publishes limits on panel size and weight, hinge clearances and ventilation, and a panel that exceeds them can strain the hinges or affect cooling. We build each panel to the appliance's own installation guide and cut the grain from the same sequence as the doors beside it.

Full-height cabinetry for tall ceilings

Standard uppers come in 30, 36 and 42 inch heights, but an estate kitchen with a ten or twelve foot ceiling usually calls for stacked uppers or tall cabinets that run to the ceiling line. Those runs need a ladder of reveals that line up from the toe kick to the crown, and a plan for reaching the top cabinets.

Lighting inside the cabinetry

LED strip and linear fixtures give task light on the counter and a glow inside glass uppers and display shelves, with little heat on finished wood. The wiring paths, drivers and switch locations are drawn before the boxes are built so no cable shows and an electrician can make the connections cleanly.

Hidden Hardware, Pocket Doors and Scribing to Stone and Plaster

Luxury installs often hide the hardware altogether. Push-to-open latches mount inside the box and pop a door or drawer with a light press, which keeps a slab front clean, and good ones carry depth adjustment so the gap can be tuned after hanging. Where pulls are wanted, we template every hole so the hardware lines up across a whole wall.

Pocket doors that open and slide back into the cabinet sides suit coffee stations, appliance garages and media cabinets, where a swinging door would sit in the way while the space is in use.

Scribing to finished surfaces

Hand-troweled plaster walls, stone floors and stone backsplashes are never perfectly flat. Rather than covering gaps with trim, we scribe end panels, fillers and filler strips to follow the surface, so the cabinetry meets the wall or stone in a tight, even line. On a full-height wall the scribe is checked against the ceiling as well as the floor.

Installing in an Occupied Estate Home

Most luxury installs in Travis County happen in a lived-in house or in a new build where the stone and floors are already down, so protection and timing are part of the job, not an afterthought.

  • Protecting finished surfaces. Floors are covered along the full path from the door to the room, stone tops and thresholds are padded, and finished panels arrive wrapped and stay wrapped until they are set.
  • Coordinating trades. We work from the same schedule as your builder, interior designer and stone fabricator, so the cabinets are set and level before the countertop template, and the appliance and electrical connections follow in the right order.
  • Staging the install. Large homes are installed room by room in a planned order, so the kitchen, bar or closet you need most is finished first and the rest of the house stays usable.
  • Punch list and walkthrough. At the end we walk every room with you, adjust doors and drawers, touch up any finish marks, and work the list until it is closed.

What Drives the Cost of Luxury Cabinet Installation

The cost of luxury cabinet installation in Austin depends far more on materials, finish and integration than on box count, so we price it after the design visit rather than from a chart. These are the drivers:

  • Linear footage and height. Full-height walls and stacked uppers add material and fitting time.
  • Species, cut and matching. Rift and quarter sawn veneers and sequence-matched sets cost more than plain sliced stock.
  • Box construction. Plywood boxes cost more than particleboard and hold fasteners better.
  • Door style and inset or overlay. Inset doors take the most fitting time; slab and shaker fronts differ in machining.
  • Finish. Hand-rubbed and multi-step finishes take far longer than a single sprayed coat.
  • Integration. Every appliance panel, lighting run and push-latch opening adds design and fitting.
  • Hardware and accessories. Pocket door slides, organizers and lift systems vary widely.
  • Demolition and countertop removal. Taking out an existing kitchen or stone top is separate scope.
  • Wall and floor condition. Plaster, stone and out-of-level floors mean more scribing.

Any figure we discuss before the measure is an estimate only and subject to change; your written quote, prepared after the free in-home measure and approved drawings, sets the final price.

Whole-Home Cabinetry and Where We Work

Luxury cabinetry rarely stops at the kitchen. A whole-home scope can carry the same species and finish into the primary closet, a wet bar, a paneled library or study, and a butler's pantry, so the house reads as one design. We plan those rooms together and install them in a sequence that suits your move-in date.

We work across Austin's west side, where the land rises into the Texas Hill Country, and around Lake Travis: Barton Creek, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Lost Creek, Lakeway, The Hills and Volente, plus the rest of Austin. Call to book your design visit.

Questions

Luxury Cabinet Installation: Common Questions

How much does luxury cabinet installation cost in Austin?

Luxury cabinet installation cost depends on linear footage, the species and veneer matching, the finish, and how many appliances and lights are integrated. We give you a written quote after the in-home measure and approved drawings, and that quote sets the final price.

How long does a luxury cabinet project take?

Lead time depends on the veneer, the finish samples and how many rooms are in scope, and installation is staged around your builder and stone fabricator. You get a written schedule once the shop drawings are approved.

Can you build panels for my column refrigerator and dishwasher?

Yes. We build fronts for panel-ready appliances to each manufacturer's size, weight and clearance limits, and match their grain to the doors around them.

Will you work with my builder, architect or interior designer?

Yes. We work from the design team's drawings and schedule, send our shop drawings for their review, and coordinate the countertop template with the stone fabricator.

How do you protect stone and finished floors during the install?

Floors are covered along every path the crew uses, stone and thresholds are padded, and finished panels stay wrapped until they are set. Any finish mark is touched up during the punch list.

Should I replace, reface or refinish my existing high-end cabinets?

If the boxes are sound and the layout works, refacing or refinishing can keep good cabinetry in place. If you want integrated appliances, taller walls or a new layout, replacement is usually the better route, and we will tell you honestly which fits at the design visit.

Do you serve my neighborhood?

We serve Austin along with Barton Creek, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Lost Creek, Sunset Valley, Shady Hollow, Steiner Ranch, Lakeway, The Hills and Volente. Call us to confirm your address.

Is luxury cabinetry covered by a warranty?

Yes, our cabinetry and installation are covered by a written warranty.

Are you licensed and insured?

Texas does not issue a state licence for cabinet installation, so there is no state number for this trade. Electrical and plumbing connections are made by licensed trades, and we will answer any insurance question your builder or you have at the design visit.

What happens at the design visit?

We measure the rooms, look at ceilings, walls, floors and stone, talk through species, finish and appliances, and note how your builder and designer want the job sequenced. Shop drawings and a written quote follow.
